WDM & Gold Coast logs on to International ICT Expo for the second time

Web Design Magic and Australia’s Gold Coast City showcased its newest products and solutions in information, communication and technologies this year at the 2013 Hong Kong International ICT Expo.
 
The ICT industry is a significant driver of Gold Coast City's growing economy, with a wide range of small to medium enterprises, and a number of large national and multinational companies based in the region. There are nearly 600 actively trading businesses on the Gold Coast that work within the ICT sector, generating an annual revenue of more than AUD$230 million and employing 1,548 full time equivalent workers.
 
Gold Coast City Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Committee Chair, Councillor Susie Douglas, said international trade and partnering key to the advancement of the Gold Coast’s ICT industry.
 
“The Gold Coast’s ICT industry is based on a strong knowledge sector, which is strengthened by the presence of universities, research centres and training institutions,” Cr Douglas said.
 
“Our universities are producing high quality specialised graduates who have a diverse range of skills that can be utilised without moving away from the Gold Coast.“
 
With nine per cent of Gold Coast ICT businesses exporting to regions including North America, New Zealand, South East Asia and Europe, we are eager to continue expanding our international market.
 
“With representatives from some of our most successful and visionary ICT businesses attending the 2013 Hong Kong International ICT Expo, Business Gold Coast is looking forward to some positive outcomes for the industry in this lucrative market.”
